Privacy Policy

Tenably ("we," "our," or "us") is a roommate management app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Tenably, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account details – email address, display name, and an optional profile photo.
  • Role – whether you are a renter (roommate) or an admin (landlord / property manager). You may hold both roles.
  • House membership – which house you belong to and any house-related settings you configure.
  • Finder profile – an optional public profile including a bio, preferred move-in dates, and living preferences, used by the roommate Finder feature.
  • Chore evidence photos – photos you upload to document completed chores.
  • Dispute and review content – text and votes submitted in the dispute system, and peer reviews you write about housemates.

Information generated by your use of the app:

  • Chore history and XP/rank – a record of tasks you have completed and your experience-point total and leaderboard position.
  • Peer review scores – aggregated ratings received from other housemates.
  • Laundry queue activity – timestamps and queue positions recorded when you use the laundry queue feature.
  • Push notification token – a device token provided by Apple's notification system (APNs / FCM) so we can deliver push notifications to your device.
  • Biometric preference flag – a boolean that records whether you have chosen to enable biometric unlock (Face ID / Touch ID). We do not store any biometric data; authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system.

Authentication information: We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in. You may register with an email address and password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. We receive only the information those services share with us (typically your email address and a unique identifier).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Tenably app and its features.
  • Authenticate your identity and keep your account secure.
  • Display your profile and Finder listing to other users where you have chosen to make it public.
  • Calculate and display chore completion, XP, and leaderboard rankings within your house.
  • Facilitate the dispute filing and voting process.
  • Send push notifications about chores, disputes, reviews, and other in-app activity.
  • Enable admins to manage house settings, members, and chore assignments.
  • Respond to support requests and feedback you send us.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. How We Share Your Information

Within your house: Housemates and admins can see your display name, profile photo, chore history, XP/rank, and peer review scores.

Public Finder profiles: If you create a Finder profile, it is visible to other Tenably users. You can remove it at any time from your settings.

Service providers:

  • Google Firebase (Firestore & Firebase Storage) – cloud database and file storage. All data is stored on Google's servers in the United States.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) – push notification delivery.
  • RevenueCat – will be integrated in a future update to manage in-app purchases (Pro tier). This Privacy Policy will be updated at that time.

Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or court order.

Business transfers: If Tenably is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and Firebase's built-in access controls.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where required by law.

6. Your Choices and Rights

  • Account deletion: Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
  • Profile photo and Finder profile: Update or remove anytime from profile settings.
  • Chore evidence photos: You can delete photos you have submitted.
  • Blocking and reporting: You can block or report other users from within the app.
  • Push notifications: Manage in your iOS device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Tenably is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.

8. International Users

Tenably is operated from the United States. If you access the app from outside the US, your information will be processed in the United States.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
